My work explores the relationship between function, form, and surface, using stoneware clay and glazes as my primary materials. I create functional objects—pieces meant to be used, touched, and integrated into daily life—drawing inspiration from the patterns and textures found in both urban environments and textiles. I work with a variety of construction techniques, including wheel throwing and slab building, to create ceramics that blend utility with aesthetic expression.
Surface decoration is integral to my practice. I’m fascinated by the way patterns can evoke a sense of place, memory, and tactile experience. My interest in textiles influences the way I approach surface design, often incorporating fabric-inspired patterns, weaves, and textures into my work. These designs, drawn from the city’s architecture, everyday objects, and the rich textures of fabric, create a layered narrative on each piece. I aim for these patterns to not only reflect the contemporary, urban world but also to evoke the warmth, comfort, and intimacy of domestic spaces.
Through my ceramics, I seek to merge traditional craft with a modern sensibility, creating pieces that are both beautiful and functional. I hope to offer work that resonates with the rhythms of daily life, inviting both visual and tactile interaction, and providing objects that enhance the spaces we live in.
